United Filipino Mountain Bikers run a deservedly popular series of mountain bike races. These, together with the Al Adaid desert Challenge and the Rasen Sport 24 hour race contribute points to the league.
UFMBQ League rankings
The events have broad appeal. They have short come-and-try-it beginners and children’s races, other riders being split into age groups, while the fastest riders of all ages compete together in the open categories. Add a large dollop of south east Asian colour to this something for everyone mix and you can understand the popularity.
The League is contested in ability and age categories:
Kids (15 & Under)
Beginner category (men & women) – a short race for experience. You may continue to compete in beginners until you feel confident but those achieving a top 5 placing must move to their age group category.
Age Group categories (men): 16-22, 23-39, 40-49, 50+
Open (men and women): categories for the faster riders, participation in Open category is mandatory for those with strong performances in previous seasons. See full rules in event information.
Women Weekend Warrior: there are insufficient numbers of women to support age category racing therefore women who do not feel competitive in the open category can choose to race in this one.
