Al Thakira Individual Time Trial - Season Opener Race Report
What a thrilling start to the season at the Al Thakira Individual Time Trial today! Despite the challenging weather conditions, our cyclists showed incredible determination and resilience, making it an unforgettable event.
Organized by the Qatar Cycling Federation, this Individual Time Trial brought together 82 out of the 89 registered cyclists, ready to take on the flat, fast route in misty, humid conditions. Thanks to the Traffic Police Department, we had a safe, fully closed road despite the fog, ensuring our riders could go full of gas.
🥇 Qatar's ITT Champion, Fadhel Alkhater of Shift Go Racing Team, set a record time of 29'28.51 over 23.7 KM with an average speed of 48.26, clinching the Men U40 and Men Overall Winner titles.
🥇 Pia Sundstedt of Rasen Team, the Finnish National Champion and Olympic Champion, held her reign as the TT Queen of Qatar, securing victories in the Women's Masters and Women Overall categories with a time of 36'58.90.
🥇 Young talent Younes Abdalgane from Rasen Team dominated the Cadet race, finishing the 13.5 KM route in just 17'38.58.
This fantastic event wouldn't have been possible without our dedicated QCTF events and technical team, along with the support of our hardworking volunteers, Rayyan Water, and Al Ghariya Cycling's mechanical and technical assistance.
The race was dedicated to uniting with the “Flourishing Minds Festival” in honor of World Mental Health Awareness Day.
