Olympic Cycling Track closures notification

Due to the Ashghal Trime Trial Series racestaking place on the Olympic Cycling Track and to ensure safe and faircompetition for all, sections will be closed to public cycling on threeTuesday evenings in the coming weeks. The closures are:

• Tuesday 13th October 18:00 – 20:00: Closed between Lusail OCT parking and Al Dayeen OCT parking
• Tuesday 27th October 18:00 – 20:00: Closed between Lusail OCT parking and OCT and Tinbek
• Tuesday 10th November 18:00 – 20:00:  Closed between Lusail OCT parking and Al Bayt Stadium

The OCT can still be used

The track remains completely accessible between Qatar University andLusail Sports Complex but the car park at Lusail will be busy and we askyou to be careful and patient if joining or leaving the track here.Sections also remain accessible from its northern end at Al Khorthroughout the first two events.

A valued asset

Qatar Cycling Federation recognises that the OCT has already become avalued asset to Qatar’s cycling community in the short time it has beenopen, so believe us when we say we will make every effort to limitclosures and cause the least inconvenience possible. Of course, there isan English expression, “If you can’t beat them, join them” and all arewelcome to participate in these events. Mr. Ibrahim Mohammed, PR manager of QCTF, acknowledged the supportgiven by Ashghal, the title sponsor of the Night Time Trial Series. Heexplained, “They have been a huge benefit to us and to cycling as awhole; by helping financially, by facilitating the closure of the OCTfor racing and by continuing to develop the infrastructure that has beena major driver in the growth of the sport. I think we are going to seepeople coming to these races who only started cycling because of theexistence of the Olympic Cycling Track.”
