Qatar Cycling League 2026 Ends with Thrilling Criterium Showdown
Doha, Qatar – The 2026 Qatar Cycling League season concluded with an exciting and highly competitive final race, where Mohammed Namsi of A13 Academy claimed victory in the concluding criterium stage, while Qatar national team riders dominated the youth category competitions.
The men’s race, held over a distance of 38 kilometers, witnessed intense competition among participants. Mohammed Namsi secured first place following an impressive performance, while Rahili of Team Al Adaam finished second, and his teammate Hafiz Sali, representing the Qatar national team, came in third place.
In the youth race, which covered 29 kilometers, Qatar national team riders delivered a standout performance by sweeping the top positions. Hamdan Al Kuwari claimed first place, followed by Jassim Al Jaber of A13 Academy in second, while Mohammed Al Hanai of Rasan Team secured third place.
The final event was marked by a vibrant competitive atmosphere, with the criterium format based on collecting points throughout multiple laps, adding excitement and suspense until the final meters of the race. This format reflects the Qatar Cycling Federation’s commitment to enhancing the level of competition and challenge among riders.
At the conclusion of the event, Mr. Marwan Al Jelhom, Head of the Cycling Sector, crowned the winners and expressed his satisfaction with the remarkable success of the season. He praised the high technical standards and outstanding organization demonstrated throughout the competitions.
Al Jelhom emphasized the importance of supporting local championships through collaboration with government institutions and the private sector, noting that such events contribute significantly to promoting cycling culture and increasing public participation in the sport. He also highlighted cycling’s role in improving public health and reinforcing environmental sustainability as one of the most eco-friendly sports.
He further noted that strengthening partnerships and support would contribute to the continued development of the local league and attract more riders, including participants from neighboring countries, thereby raising the level of competition and enhancing the regional status of the races.
In his closing remarks, Al Jelhom extended his appreciation to the General Directorate of Public Security, the Traffic Safety Department, Hamad Medical Corporation – Ambulance Service, and all organizations that contributed to the successful delivery of the season, expressing optimism for an even more distinguished and advanced season in the future.
